Today, our family experienced an unimaginable loss. My brother-in-law, Alan Gainer Ortiz, passed away unexpectedly in New York. Our hearts are broken, and we are still in shock trying to process this sudden tragedy.

Alan was one of the most loving, joyful, and genuine people you could ever meet. He always had a smile, always had a joke, and always had a heart big enough to help anybody who needed him. If you knew Alan, you knew kindness. You knew laughter. You knew love.

Now, our family is facing something no one ever expects the cost of bringing him home so his mother, my husband, and all of us who loved him can lay him to rest with dignity and peace.
