Please help Cynthia and her children as they navigate through this most difficult time.
My single mother, Cynthia, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2018 and 2019. She's undergone a double mastectomy, radiation, and chemotherapy. She finally entered remission at the end of 2020. We were all relieved and thought things were better.
Fast forward to the Fall of 2021, and she began to have symptoms of abdominal pain. Things quickly pivoted by June 2022. Symptoms became more severe. She now experienced daily vomiting, severe pain, and nausea. She went to three different hospitals. The first hospital completed a CT scan and saw nothing alarming. The second hospital sent her home with pain medication. Three weeks later, she was admitted to Stanford Hospital ER, and another CT scan was performed. My world came quickly crashing down. Finally, we figured out what was causing her so much pain. The CT scan revealed a terrible nightmare: My mother was diagnosed with recurrent metastasized breast cancer in her liver, cecum, lung and spine.
- She underwent emergency surgery on 8/29 to remove one mass.
- She spent about three weeks in the hospital. She was still experiencing symptoms because she was fighting an infection on top of her recovery. Seeing her this way is something I wish no one has to go through or even witness.
- Her oncologist will have more answers once she is fully recovered.
- Remember, there is NO CURE FOR CANCER.
Cynthia is still relatively young for cancer of this sort. She has been through so much in her lifetime, especially these past four years fighting this battle. No family can be prepared for such a prognosis. The average cost of living today is already expensive. As of right now, she isn't able to return to work. We are asking for help with finances to help cover medical expenses, time off work, and everything in between to help her live her best life while going through this traumatic experience.
She is in the competent hands of the great staff at Stanford and will receive the best medical treatment available.
Updates will be posted as they occur.
We truly appreciate any help you can offer. A post, a share, a donation, a prayer. We do ask to give Cynthia and our family the space to process what is happening.
On behalf of our family - We thank you for your support.
