Cynthia's Got Some Nerve...Damage
Donation protected
My mother, Cynthia Scott, is funny, smart and extremely kind. I am posting this for her so we can get her on the road to recovery and back on her feet. The Monday after Halloween she started having numbness in her fingers which progressed rapidly to weakness in all extremities causing her not to be able to walk.
The neurosurgeon admitted her to St. Vincent's November 6th and she was later diagnosed with
transverse myelitis . It is a rare neurological disorder and the inflammation of her spinal cord causes weakness, inability to walk, pain and sensory loss. The recovery process is critical the next 6 months. The steroids have helped stabilize her and she can begin inpatient physical rehabilitation. The next phase in moving into an apartment that accommodates her limited mobility. Months of out patient physical therapy will be needed as we wait and see what of her nerves will recover.
She's laughter and joy to all her friends & family and needs all the love and support. Any donation helps and just hearing from you is a great comfort.
Thanks for your help,
Austin

From Cynthia:
Nov: I am now in Lakeshore Rehab to try to get my strength back. I need all of your thoughts and prayers as you see fit!!
Please keep in touch (text/call/visit).
Miss you all. Cynthia.
Dec: Love my new apt!
Please donate to help with the medical bills, hospitalization and her monthly bills since she isn't able to work.
We haven't received the final amounts from hospital or physical rehab so we are basing the estimate currently on additional help needed for a couple months rent & bills. The move and new apt fees was $1,200.
