Cyndi Vann and Family

Donation protected
Hi there, you are here because you are either friends/family of Chris or Cyndi Vann, you are an acquaintance of their friends/family, or you are just curious. Whatever the reason, please take a few minutes to at least read and really consider helping in any way you are able to. Anything will help!

If monetary donations are not your thing, but you have another way to help, please get in touch with the creator of this GoFundMe. A whole bunch of us are working together to give this sweet, young family as much love and support as possible to get through this tragic situation.

A few weeks ago, Chris Vann's wife, Cyndi found him unconscious after he went into cardiac arrest for unknown reasons. It caused irreversible brain damage, and after spending several weeks in the hospital on life support, and after many unsuccessful attempts at removing his ventilator to have him breathe on his own, the decision was made to stop life support and end Chris's suffering.

At the time, Chris had other plans. When they removed the ventilator, he fought and took breaths on his own, giving everyone hope that he will pull through this. Sadly, this sudden turnaround did not last long, though, and a couple days later, his body started declining again. He was then admitted to Hospice care to ease his transition. Within 24 hours of being transitioned to Hospice, a shining light was extinguished as Chris slipped away from this world.

The family is going to need our help. There is no other way to put it. They have just suffered a huge, sudden, unexpected loss. The kids lost their father, Cyndi lost her husband. Anything you can do to help will be extremely appreciated. There will be hospital bills to be paid, as well as other debt and expenses surrounding the passing of a loved one. On top of everything else, she will be trying to cope with all of this with only her income now, as she will no longer have Chris's income to combine with hers to help with expenses.

A little background on the family:
Chris is survived by his beautiful wife, Cyndi, and their three bright, adorable children, Lyla (10), Kai (11), and Alexis (18). Lyla is in 5th grade, Kai is in 6th, and Alexis is starting her freshman year in college in January.

Chris and Cyndi were married 5 years ago this past July, after dating for many years prior. When he and Cyndi got married in 2014, many of us bore witness to the love in his soul just exuding from him as he watched his soon-to-be wife walk down the aisle, towards him and their future together.

His kids loved and love him SO much. He was an amazing dad who sacrificed and did everything he could to provide for them and make them as happy as possible. Each year, on each of their birthdays, he would set up a “balloon drop” - when the kiddo would walk in the door, a pile of balloons would rain down on them, which would usually be met by a slew of giggles, meaning mission accomplished! This year, since Alexis was officially an adult (since she turned 18), he even taped lottery tickets to her balloons so she would get an extra grown-up version of the drop!

Chris truly loved life – any time you saw him, he was always smiling or trying to make you smile. He loved spending time with his wife, kids, and friends. He loved sunshine and surfing, Hor!zen shows, music, being outside and spreading love, playing poker, being wild and crazy, and making people smile. Most of all, he loved dancing with his wife.

Many of us had the honor of attending one of his many awesome backyard barbecues he put together – where he would invite everyone he could, buy all sorts of food, smoke meat, then feed us until were were full, have a blast with us until all hours of the night, and be the glue that bound people together.
I could sit here all day and write so much about this man, but this is a GoFundMe, not an obituary, so I will end on this.

We go through life, constantly just surfing these ups and downs. Some people get phased hard when life hands them the down side. But these folks – these folks would go to the mats for those who they love, no matter what they went through. Even being days away from passing, Chris was still trying to smile, and make those around him smile, too. Everyone who knows the Vann family, knows that no matter what, love is, and always has been, the basis for their truth.

Sadly, we can't throw Chris a barbecue, or take him surfing, or have a beer with him. It is nothing less than tragic, and at 36, he was WAY too young for this to have happened. However, we can try to ease a huge burden for Cyndi and the kids, as much as possible, on his behalf, so they can grieve without having to stress so hard about financial worry.

Cacaw, our brother.
We love you and will miss you!!
