In 1949 a group of young rugby players from CYM Rugby Club travelled to Scotland to play Haddington RFC in an inaugural match which has become the historic Friendship Cup.
2021 would have been the annual repeat of the fixture, but sadly due to Covid restrictions CYM RFC are unable to travel to Scotland.
Instead, on Thursday 11th March the Men's and Women's teams from CYM RFC take on Haddington RFC in a 24-hour Running Challenge. A virtual example of the friendly rivalry that exists between the two clubs.
As part of the Challenge, we are raising funds for the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association, while Haddington RFC have also set up a separate campaign to raise funds for the My Name'5 Doodie Foundation which also supports those affected by Motor Neurone Disease.
The Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association (IMNDA, CHY 8510) is the only organisation of its kind in Ireland. They are dedicated to working on behalf of people living with MND and their families and carers. Their key services include home visits by our 4 MND nurses, financial assistance towards home help and the supply of specialised equipment on loan. They also fund and promote research into the causes and treatments of MND. Find out more information at www.imnda.ie
Support CYM RFC to support others by making a donation today.
All funds raised go to the IMNDA, and all donations, of any size, are greatly appreciated.
Many thanks, CYM Rugby Club.
