Early this week, the population of Malawi was devastated by a tropical cyclone that claimed the lives and homes of hundreds of people. Survivors are staying in temporary shelters in schools, scraping together what they can to recover their lives and rebuild their communities. However, there is limited infrastructure to handle a disaster of this scale, so we are raising funds to send to our family in Malawi to be distributed to affected communities.
Funds raised will be used to purchase maize flour for nsima, blankets, and, if enough funds are raised, bladder tanks to distribute drinkable water.
Please give what you can and share this fundraiser wherever possible.
CONTENT WARNING: The following images depict the affected people and land of Malawi, including destroyed homes, flooding, mudslides, people in distress, and the coffins of those lost to the storm. These are intended not to cause discomfort to viewers but to illustrate the severity of the disaster Malawians are facing.
