Thanks for considering making a donation to Cycling Without Age Cambridge (CWA Cambridge). Your donation is tax deductible. CWA Cambridge is an affiliate of Cycling Without Age, a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit international organization (www.cyclingwithoutage.org). Our organization, CWA Cambridge can be viewed on their world map.
The elderly and physically disabled nursing home and hospital residents are those CWA Cambridge hopes to serve. To give them the simple enjoyment of a slow bike ride through our community, to feel the wind in their hair and reminisce about their past. There is enough room for the client, a caregiver and maybe even a grandchild. Passengers can reminisce about their past, especially about our growing community while on a simple slow bike ride. Something, many of us take for granted.
100% of the tax deductible donations will be used to purchase the specially designed tri-bike (including incidental cost's like insurance, shipping etc.). The tri-bike is specially designed to accommodate the elderly and people who live with physical disabilities.
I will be operating the CWA tri-bike as a 100% volunteer. Once the tri-bike is received, it will be fully owned and used by CWA Cambridge.
I have been a committed community activist working with the elderly and disabled residents of Cambridge for over 20 years as well as our local immigrant community. I have received many commendations and recognition over the years from our current Cambridge Mayor Marc McGovern, a Congressional Citation from Congresswoman Katherine Clark and even generously awarded the Key to the City of Cambridge, Massachusetts from then Mayor Denise Simmons for my years of community work. I am excited and honored to have been chosen to be the Cycling Without Age Cambridge affiliate.
I was forced to retire early due to severe, life threatening health issues. For 2 1/2 years or so, I was paralyzed from mid chest down. One of the activities I missed the most was a simple bike ride. Biking again after years of rehab and hard work, made me realize how much other's, especially the elderly and those living with a disability, would simply appreciate a slow bike ride through our community. My hope is to bring this dream to reality and help the elderly and those living with physical disabilities enjoy what many of us take for granted.
Thank you,
Manny L.
