Myself and a few of my friends have decided to cycle the length of Ireland, Malin Head to Mizen Head, in aid of the Shauna Kavanagh Foundation. SKF is a charity set up to help those with Cystic Fibrosis in honour of a true fighter and champion of a girl who we all dearly miss. 

While it may seem like a big undertaking and a tough challenge it is nothing compared to what these brave people and their families have to go through on a daily basis. 

Cystic Fibrosis is a genetically inherited disease that primarily affects the lungs and digestive system. Ireland has the highest incidence of CF in the world- approximately 1 in 19 Irish people are said to 'carry' one copy of the altered gene that causes CF. 

The aim of the Shauna Kavanagh Foundation is to support people who face long term health challenges like Cystic fibrosis, CF. They and their families very often experience long hospital stays which can be very financially challenging.

The Foundation supports these families in very practical ways, with day to day essentials, like vouchers for car parking, petrol and transport costs, phone credit, exercise equipment etc.

Ordinary needs that are seldom thought about but can add a real financial burden on top of the worry about health challenges.
