I am cycling 150 miles along the River Rhine between Dusseldorf and Wiesbaden later in May. I am accompanying my friend Nick Seager on part of his epic 1,000 mile ride from Brussels to Budapest. But I know my limits!

This ride presents an opportunity to raise funds for two very special causes.

David "Syd" Lawrence - Motor Neurone Disease Association

As a Gloucestershire County Cricket Club supporter of over 50 years I was shaken to hear of Syd’s diagnosis of MND last year. Since then he, together with the Club's community, MNDA and the Cricketers Trust, have raised the profile of this horrible disease to many of us.

Mike Procter Foundation

Another Gloucestershire Cricket colossus was Mike Procter who sadly died last year. His legacy and values live on through his wonderful Foundation, of which I am proud to be a Trustee. This charity helps bring smiles to disadvantaged children, and employment to young adults, in South Africa through sports coaching.
