New Tandem for Nationals and worlds
Donation protected
After my accident in 2017 where I became legally blind in my right eye, and my left eye going fully blind, it has resulted in me unable to ride a bike on the road by myself, I thing I used to do every day and loved it. I continued running however but got injured with shin splints in 2018 and due to a bone condition – it will never heal. In my time off, I started cycling indoors again – and then feel in love with it again.
As my times and power went up I bought a cheap tandem and began training, doing 350-550km per week. In that time since June 2019, I have won the state championships, got the qualifying times for World championships as well as dome some training with the New South Wales Institute of sport.
However, as I am no progressing to high level racing, my current tandem has become inadequate due to its all componets and heavy frame. For para athletes, tandems are very hard to find, and very expensive. Due to the lack of supply and the Niche market – tandems have to be custom made for racing.
I am attempting to fundraise $18,000 to pay for my new tandem. I am saving and all the money I earn through my work I am putting towards the racing bike.
I am hoping to use bike for the National Championships in January in Ballarat, and with the donations you make, and my saving this will become a reality – and hopefully enable me to secure a spot on the Australian team
My new tandem will enable me to progress in my cycling career and from donations you make it will make all my cycling dreams come true
All donations are welcome, and every Penny counts. If you have any questions please email [email redacted]ukes.nsw.edu.au
