This August, we’re leaving everything behind to take on the biggest challenge of our lives — cycling 30,000km around the world over 14–18 months.
We’re not professional cyclists -far from it.
Ciaran is a former professional rugby player searching for a new purpose beyond elite sport. Lucy is a beginner cyclist who, until recently, had never cycled more than 60km — setting out to prove that big adventures aren’t reserved for “experts,” and that more women can take up space in this world of exploration. Together, we’ll be pedalling over 100km a day, across continents, climates, and cultures
We’re aiming to raise £50,000+ for Sport Parkinson’s, in support of Ciaran’s mum, Annie Booth.
In 2015, Annie was diagnosed with Parkinson’s just two years after her father passed away from the disease. It was a devastating time for the family. But in the years since, Annie has transformed that hardship into something extraordinary.
Through the Parkinson’s community and organisations like Sport Parkinson’s, she discovered purpose and belonging. Annie went from watching her sons play rugby to becoming an athlete herself through walking football. In 2022, Annie earned a place on the Parkinson’s England Walking Football Squad and later founded Parkinson’s Pioneers, the UK’s first walking football community exclusively for women with Parkinson’s.
She has helped hundreds of people, many of whom had never played football before, find confidence, connection, and a reason to keep moving.
Sport Parkinson’s uses exercise and community to help people manage symptoms, improve wellbeing, and feel less alone. By supporting our journey, you’re helping us raise vital funds for this incredible cause and helping more people living with Parkinson’s access the support they deserve.
We’ll be documenting the entire journey daily through film and storytelling, sharing the reality of what it takes to chase something this big, highs and lows included.
More than anything, we hope this inspires people — whether you’re facing a physical challenge, a mental one, or just feeling stuck — to get outside, move your body, and realise you’re capable of more than you think.
If we can inspire even a handful of people to take that first step, every mile (and every saddle sore) will be worth it.
Thank you for being part of our journey.
