Cycling Across Canada for Uncle Wayne and Fahr Beyond

Donation protected
My name is Jeremy and starting May 27th I'll be riding my bike 11,500km across Canada for my Uncle Wayne. The primary focus of the ride will be to raise money for Fahr Beyond Charity.

Late last year, Uncle Wayne was diagnosed with Fahr's disease. For those unfamiliar with Fahr's, it's a genetically-inherited neurological disorder characterized by calcium deposits in the brain. The diagnosis came as a huge shock to our entire family, especially realizing that Fahr's is terminal and could be passed down to my cousins and other future family members.

Upon researching Fahr's further online, I was shocked to find how little awareness and focus is put towards the disease despite how vicious it can be. Because most clinicians don't know what to look for, it's believed that as many as 1 in 20 diagnoses of Alzheimer's or Dementia could actually be misdiagnosed cases of Fahr's disease.

Soon after, I connected with Dr. Adam Tate, the founder of a UK charity focused on Fahr's Disease. Fahr Beyond is a charity that helps support diagnosed patients and equips doctors with information on recognizing/diagnosing Fahr's. They have been instrumental in helping create the world's first and only Fahr's-specific clinic in the UK.

By donating to my campaign and Fahr Beyond, you'll be directly supporting a small charity to:
  • expand translation and distribution of Fahr's educational materials to clinicians around the world
  • continue to grow a Fahr's-specific bio bank of tissue and genetic samples, accessible to the clinical community worldwide
  • increase the presence of Fahr Beyond in North America (currently they are focused on Europe and the UK)
  • create additional supporting materials and video testimonials to help expand outreach efforts

Because Fahr's is so gravely under-diagnosed, the biggest steps we can take today are to help educate doctors around the world on what to look for in order to successfully diagnose the disease. Your donation can help make this happen.
