Cycling from Princes Risborough to Barcelona – for Dementia Awareness & Support. 17th - 25th May 2026.
Huw and Mark will be setting off on the ride of a lifetime — cycling over 1,300k from Princes Risborough (UK) all the way to Barcelona (Spain) through the pyrenees cycling over 14,000 metres in elevation over the total distance!
Route consists of:
- Day 1: Princes Risborough - Caen
- Day 2: Caen - Alencon
- Day 3: Alencon - Tours
- Day 4: Tours - Le Blanc
- Day 5: Le Blanc - Uzerche
- Day 6: Uzerche - Villefranche-de-rouergue
- Day 7: Villefranche-de-rouergue - Carcassonne
- Day 8: Carcassonne - Figueres
- Day 9: Figueres - Barcelona beach
Why?
A note from Huw:
- Because like so many others, my granny is currently living with dementia and we see every day, how this cruel disease steals pieces of the person you love! It’s heartbreaking — not just for the person going through it, but for everyone around them.
- My wife’s granddad passed away in 2022 battling dementia. This ride is for both of them, and for the millions of families going through the same struggle.
A note from Mark:
- Although fortunately I haven’t had any direct family affected by Dementia, I have various friends with family members who are suffering from Dementia and have seen the sad effect it has on not only the person, but on all of their friends/family as well. I equally see the effect of this a lot at work, and so this ride is to raise money for an amazing charity that supports thousands of people struggling with Dementia.
Every hill we climb, every mile we ride, and every drop of rain we face will be in support of the incredible charity doing life-changing work for people with dementia and their families.
We're not professional cyclists — just people with a bike, a goal, and a cause that matters. Your support, no matter how small, will push us forward through the toughest moments of the journey.
