Cycle of Support: Ariella Horenstein Bikur Cholim
Tax deductible
This winter, I will embark on a two-day, 275 mile (445 km) Florida Coast-to-Coast bike ride (route shown below). The purpose of this ride is to raise funds for the Ariella Horenstein Bikur Cholim Society. This organization was founded fourteen years ago in memory of my daughter, Ariella, who struggled with severe medical issues and unfortunately passed away at age 8 1/2 after undergoing many painful procedures- radiation, chemotherapy, and finally a bone marrow transplant.
'Bikur Cholim' means 'visiting & caring for the sick'. I know firsthand the anguish and helplessness families feel when confronted with the challenges of severe illness. This organization provides the essential services that are most needed during such trying times. We partnered with Chabad of Durham, NC, to develop a hospitality house a block away from the Duke University Medical Center, where patients and families can find refuge in comfortable surroundings, fully stocked with food and other amenities. This organization also assists families based on their unique needs, helping to connect them with the best doctors, providing transportation, and visiting with them during their agonizing experience. Many of these patients come for lung transplants, treatment for brain tumors, and stem cell & bone marrow transplants.
I have been training for this ride on the "Space Coast" of Florida, mostly between Cape Canaveral and the Sebastian Inlet. The dates (weather permitting) for the ride are February 19-20, 2024 .
I am personally covering all support costs for this ride, so every dollar donated will go directly to the organization.
All donations are tax-deductible.
