I have chosen to raise money for MIND, a charity dedicated to mental health. They provide exceptional advice and support for those who are fighting and experiencing mental health problems. They campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding. I personally have battled with my own demons, alcoholism and addictions. These are unprecedented times, and many people are facing mental health issues and it is so so important that these services are there to provide help for those who need it.
Your worst day is only 24 hours long and I live each day as it comes, you can’t change the past and you don’t know what the future holds, so I personally try to live in the day and take one day at a time.
I will be cycling the full-length of Portugal, circa 800km in just 5 days, to raise as much money as possible to help this amazing charity continue their wonderful work. Cycling and exercise has helped me personally throughout lockdown, it has helped keep me sane when my world seemed as though it was falling apart. Talking with others about my insecurities, fears, resentments and feelings helped so much and I am living proof that you can overcome these feelings.
After two full knee replacements a snapped thigh and narrowly avoiding amputation of my right leg all in the last 3 years this will be a huge challenge. I have only been cycling for 6 months and to do something like this for a worthwhile charity gives me an enormous sense of pride and determination.
Any amount big or small is desperately needed and will help fund the services that are critical.
