This is my friend Michael.
On November 20th 2015, Michael was run off the road by a driver who did not see him. The driver was merging onto the straight-away that Michael was driving on and ran him off the road. Michael went head on into a pole; he was seriously injured in this horrific motorcycle accident. Michael is now a quadriplegic. He requires 24/7 care. His wife Sarah took leave from her employer in order to be his full time care taker. His parents uprooted their lives to be nearer to him and the facility where he can obtain the best therapy for spinal cord injury victims. Michael has made such amazing progress since this horrendous day, but his journey has not been easy. Michael has been in and out of the hospital several times, due to various complications. He and his wife need our help. The out of pocket costs associated with Michael’s medical needs, keeping him in therapy, using the adaptive equipment he needs to help regain some of his independence along with his daily care and assistance he needs, all amount to an immense financial strain.

This coming August, I will be heading to Ireland to participate in a Cycling Event called “Lap the Lough” (lough=lake). Lap the Lough is an annual, not-for-profit cycle event around Lough Neagh, Northern Ireland. The event aims to encourage cyclist to do 1 lap, 156K/97.5 miles and to create a high profile fundraising vehicle so individuals can raise money for their own favorite charity or charitable cause.
I CHOOSE TO CYCLE 4 MICHAEL AND WILL BE PARTICIPATING IN THE LAP THE LOUGH, CYCLING 97.5 MILES TO HELP RAISE MONEY ON MICHAEL’S BEHALF.
100% OF DONATIONS raised will go towards his medical needs, therapy and to use the adaptive equipment he needs to regain some independence again.
