Thank you so much being here. 2019 has been a year of extremes and much change in our household and lives. Personal life & physical health challenges, an unexpected house move coming up next month, and this medical emergency for Charlie have combined to create a perfect storm of predicament.
Charlie was diagnosed with Vestibular disease in July, which is quite common in older dogs and has no procedure for treatment or medication, but we have been improving his quality of life with some alternative therapies to help manage his symptoms that have helped him get back on his feet and feel more steady so he can enjoy the life he loves to live.
Now, we have discovered that he needs to have a double hernia surgery that is about $6000 over what I am able to cover. We have found an amazing vet surgical team that is skilled in this particular type of procedure, and Charlie really liked all of them and gave them his belly-rub seal of approval during his consultation! It is important to get this surgery before the hernia can cause strangulation of his internal organs, which would turn it into an emergency that is not only dangerous, but potentially much more expensive.
While speaking to our friend Theresa about our situation, she suggested that we start this Go Fund Me campaign. Of course I felt shy about asking for financial help, but she reminded me that this is for Charlie, and Charlie has touched so many lives and hearts during his time on earth that many would love the opportunity to give back in any way they can. Any donation of any amount gets us even closer to it. (For instance, if each one of our FB friends gave $7, our goal would be reached.)
I understand this is the holiday season, and we so appreciate you considering to help us during this season of giving. I know personally the joy and fulfillment that comes from being on both ends of this infinity loop of giving and receiving.
There is no way we would be where we are today without the love, support, and compassionate help of many cherished people and we are deeply grateful!
