Cyarra's Big Heart

Donation protected
Hi everyone, my family and I are setting up this GoFundMe for my daughter Cyarra. This coming February, Cyarra is going to under-go Open-Heart surgery to replace her pulmonary artery. This surgery will put Cyarra out of work for at least 6 weeks, and the surgery alone will be costly with the insurance she has and the huge deductible. She is a single mom, started her own business only a year ago, and without any warning or notice has to have this major surgery. We want her time before the surgery and after to be as calm and stress-free as possible. We are hoping to relieve some of the financial stress off of her. If you can help in anyway, whether it be a donation, share of this GoFundMe, or your prayers it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you from the “bottom of our hearts”.

Here's a little background on Cyarra’s medical condition:

Cyarra was born with a condition called VACTERL Syndrome. Each of the letters stand for it’s medical issue. V-Vertebral, A-Anal, C-Cardiac,T-Trachea,E-Esophagus, R-Renal, and L-Limbs. Out of the 7, Cyarra has 4 which are the V,C,T, and E. She has a variety of vertebral deformities. Her heart has a condition called tetralogy of fallot, which means there are 4 things wrong with her heart. Her heart muscle was thick, her pulmonary artery was not formed completely, her heart was shaped like a boot because one of the chambers was smaller, and she had a hole between her 2 bottom chambers. All of the issues were corrected when she underwent several surgeries, the first one being when she was 1 day old and another at 8 days old. The trachea  and esophagus were operated on first because they were attached and her esophagus was not attached to her stomach. They were able to correct both issues the day after she was born. We were VERY lucky. When she was 8 days old, they had to place shunts to enlarge the artery until she was old and strong enough to under-go Open-Heart surgery. At 2-months, Cyarra contracted RSV that kills many healthy newborns, in which case we were flown back to the Children's Hospital in Denver. She again was strong enough to pull through even with odds against her. We were VERY lucky again. While waiting for her next surgery, we had to feed her 24 calorie formula we were provided through the hospital because she was not strong enough to nurse. It was essential for her to gain weight ASAP. AT 1 year old, the Open-Heart surgery was scheduled. This surgery was the hardest so far because I had gotten to be her mom for a full year and then had to hand her over for a major surgery not knowing if I would get my baby back. But, I knew that she was a fighter and had a purpose in this world. During this surgery, she was put on Bi-Pass and put through hypothermia so they could replace her pulmonary artery with a human graph. After surgery, they explained that Homograph they placed had mild leakage but they were able to repair the hole between the two bottom chambers. They proceeded to let me know that this would not be her last surgery. So again at 10-years old, Cyarra had another Open-Heart surgery but this time in Seattle. She underwent the same procedure she had at 1-year old to replace the pulmonary artery with a larger adult sized Homograph. She recovered faster than the doctors could have even imagined. But, with Homographs there are always mild leakage which they had already explained. Since she could grow into this artery, that is adult sized, I was hopeful that she would not need another surgery. The doctors could not guarantee that this would be her last surgery because it all depends on the Homograph that is placed and its amount of leakage. As of Cyarra’s last appointment, they discovered that her artery is constricting her blood flow and causing extra leakage because of the pressure put on the artery. Cyarra will need Open-Heart surgery and a new Homograph.

Cyarra first made the move from Montana to Idaho to begin her new life after graduating from cosmetology school in Bozeman. She is a certified cosmetologist and esthetician with her own Salon. She is a single mother and a friend to anyone and everyone who knows her. With the limitations of insurance as we all know, we don’t have any idea on how much this is going to cost Cyarra, not to mention the 6-week recovery time. All of the above is why we are reaching out for help with the costs of everyday life, raising a son, and paying her medical bills.

Thank you to everyone for your attention to this matter and the prayers and love from you all. Cyarra is blessed to have each and everyone of you, and we are all so very blessed to have her.

We appreciate you all.
