Wheelchair for outdoor photography

Hi, My name is Jeff Pawlicki
I am a 49 year old male, no kids, never married.
I was in an accident in 1990.
I fractured two vertabra in my neck.
I am now a quadraplegic. The guy didn't have
insurance, and all I recieved was enough to buy
a used wheelchair van. I lived at home with my
parents and did some office work at my dad's repair shop.
My Dad died of cancer 8 years ago. He was mybest friend.
I also had a few jobs inbetween. But mostly lived on SSI.
Over the years I've had bladder problems and delt with preassure
sores that even led to a bone infection that put me on my back for 7 months.
I've had family and friends help me with house modifications and van repairs.
A few years ago I bought a small digital camera and started experimenting.
I have really enjoyed photography, and have bought and
sold a few and upgraded to a better camera.
Right now my main income is SSI. I have medical assistane to help with the medical.
This is where I need help. MA pays for my wheelchair.
I have always tried to pay my way..But paying for an "off-road" wheelchair has me stumped.
Medical asstance doesn't pay for anything more than basic..
The powerchair I have now is ok..I'm careful where I go at this time because
I have a rear caster bearing that is out and it takes two weeks before MA gets the
paperwork ok'd and the repair guys can order the parts,
So that takes a month or so.. because I had a similar problem with a differt front wheel...
Don't get me wrong..I appreciate the Assistance I recieve !
But sometimesthe red tape is a pain.
I have been looking at outdoor power wheelchairs because I want to get out
and do more outdoor photography. I see they have all kinds of modifications on
chairs for people to go hunting, but I don't have the money...
I have limited use of my hands and arms, and with some help I created carmera
mounts that clamp and or suction cup to my chair. I love nature and wildlife.
I'm not out to hunt, but to photograph !
Then try to enter photo contests or frame and try to sell the photos.
I am trying to raise 10 thousand to buy a modified chair.
The one I have is a good chair but the narrower tires and frame isn't made for rough terraine.
Because of my injury I am not able to drive my van,
But it would be great to have more freedom !
It would be life changing to get out closer to nature and maybe tavel on atv or bike trails.
I have no idea what to expect here.
