Help Eric Scheffer and family

Hi, my name is Michelle and I’m raising funds to help cover medical costs and expenses for my brother, Eric. He suffered a massive heart attack at age 36 and is in the ICU at Buffalo General Hospital. He is intubated and sedated after undergoing 7 resuscitations and heart surgery

I started this go fund me to help with medical expenses and cover some of his monthly expenses while he is recovering. He is currently sedated and unable to manage and provide for his family. These funds will help to cover expenses and get groceries for the kids so Jade and him don’t have to worry and can focus on his recovery. Thank you all for your support and continued prayers. I just want to start by saying thank you to everyone for all your thoughts, prayers, love, guidance and support. This community, our friends and family are the most amazing people. We’re all exhausted, but running on hope and prayers that everything will be ok ❤️

Eric is awake and trying to joke around (typical Eric), but I don’t think he has quite grasped what actually happened yet. The doctors removed the NG tube and excubated him. He’s on a heart pump bc his heart is having difficulty working on its own. They’re not sure how much damage his heart sustained yet from being resuscitated so many times. He’s also experiencing some other issues that his medical team will be reviewing and keeping an eye on.

The doctors are all at a loss on how this happened to him. Someone so young. A couple nurses came in to see him and were so thankful he made it through the night because they weren’t sure he was going to. They were terrified and shocked when they got the call a 36 year old was coming in suffering cardiac arrest, just as we all were to hear this was happening to him.

We can’t thank everyone enough for all the support and love. We’re so thankful he is alive and still with us. Eric is not out of the woods and has a very long road ahead of him. Please continue to keep him in your thoughts and prayers. ❤️❤️❤️ I will try to update again later on today.
