Max's Marathon Dash 4 Cure Duchenne

Hey hey! First of all, thanks for stopping by this page and caring enough to learn about what I'm trying to do here.
Two weeks ago, I signed up for the LA Marathon because I've always wanted to run one and thought, "why not now?" The race is on February 14th which gives me roughly 14 weeks of training to prepare. Training is going to be the worst--there's no way around it. Ain't nothing fun about waking up on a Sunday and running 20+ miles when I could be sitting on the couch and watching football all day. But hey, if that's the biggest hardship in my life, then I'm doing more than fine and I consider myself incredibly lucky.
As difficult as this is going to be, I realize how lucky I am to be healthy and phyiscally able to take on this challenge so I'd like to raise awareness/money for those who aren't...and specifically those who suffer from Duchenne. As I mentioned in my Facebook post, Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is a horrible progressive disease found in young boys that slowly deteriorates the muscles in their body. The money raised will go to the funding of the drug that will hopefully cure and forever eliminate the disease. (There is a lot more science behind it, where this drug will essentially trick the body to skip over the enzyme in the DNA that forms Duchenne, but I won't delve into that...)
Whether you feel like donating because you want to help the cause, you want to add a little extra motivation for me, or you just feel like you have too much money on your hands and want to give it away, anything would be GREATLY appreciated. I'll be updating this site throughout my training to keep you all posted on my progress.
Lastly, I don't really know what I'm doing, so any tips on marathon training would also be awesome.
