Help Kelly Beat Cancer

In 2016, Kelly made a promise to her son: "Our best days are yet to come.” She had been thrust into a life of single motherhood, but she was ready to do whatever it took to give her son the best life.

POTS

One day in 2018, she woke up feeling dizzy and off-balance with chest pain. At the hospital, she was told she had suffered SVT - a heart arrhythmia that causes your heart to get stuck at a very high rate. A few days later, it happened again. Thinking she had a heart attack at work, Kelly was taken by ambulance to the hospital, but doctors could not explain why this was happening to her.

Her symptoms continued to worsen, and she persisted in seeking answers. After seven hospital trips, countless doctors and specialists, and every test you can imagine, Kelly turned to the Mayo Clinic.

She was finally diagnosed with POTS – a condition where your nervous system malfunctions, causing symptoms that make day-to-day life impossible. The quality of life in POTS patients is comparable to end-stage renal or heart failure. She was also diagnosed with Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, an overactive immune system that went haywire. Unfortunately, there are only off-label treatments for POTS, and there is no cure. She was determined to find her root cause and never stop fighting to improve.

CANCER

As if these debilitating medical conditions weren’t enough, Kelly was recently diagnosed with cancer after a biopsy of an enlarged lymph node. After the PET scan, they determined that she may also have a separate unrelated cancer, likely fighting two forms of cancer simultaneously.

TREATMENT

She will soon be undergoing 30 rounds of radiation, chemotherapy, and may also need a hysterectomy. She will have short and long-term health effects from chemo and radiation, which will make caring for her son as a single mother even more difficult.

THE BATTLE AHEAD

Unable to work, the everyday bills continue to pile up. As you might imagine, Kelly has been overwhelmed by these mounting medical costs and being a single mother to a young child while battling severe chronic and acute illness.

Her son cannot remember his mom before she got ill, and now their lives center around her health issues. That is what pains her the most. Her dream is to get better so she and her son can hit the town like they used to.

If you know Kelly, you know that she’s a fighter. You also understand that she’s not one to ask for help. Kelly is one of the kindest people I have ever met, and she deserves any assistance we can offer. Let’s let her know she’s not alone in this and help her keep her promise to her son.

OUR GOAL

We aim to raise a minimum of $25,000 USD to help with monthly bills and medical costs for cancer treatments, surgery, and rehab. Donations will also help with grocery delivery and babysitters to help care for her son. Let's lessen Kelly's burden so she can focus on getting healthy.
