Helping Nikki

I have a friend that is local to our area that needs some financial support. She has endured domestic violence that is unimaginable to you and I. Her body and mind is permanently scarred as a reminder. As a result, the once nurse has had to cease working, to care for her children (17, 16, 14 and 10) who are psychologically and physically affected on a daily basis as a result of what their family has endured. The 2 youngest are in and out of Westmead hospital for severe anorexia, anxiety and depression and her son has just done a 3 month stint in hospital. They are working with social workers and professionals on a daily basis.

They moved to Australia from Ireland and have very little support in Australia. She was so brave to leave her situation but was left with pretty much nothing and has had to rebuild their life. This family struggles on a daily basis to make ends meet. They are well known in the system and local agencies. We have attempted to source extra assistance for her family in the past, with little to no additional resources available to help them.

In the last 2 years, I have seen this women go from struggle to struggle but still carry on for her family. Her story is devastating and heartbreaking. Today I ran into her as her car was being towed after her engine ceased. As she put on a brave face, her eyes were crying inside and all she was concerned about was how she would get the kids too and from their hospital appointments. 2 weeks before Christmas and the 2nd time her car engine has been restored.

I beg you, please find it in your heart to just donate even just a little bit. One person cant change a world, but if we all do a little bit and gather together, we could really impact the lives of this beautiful family. Aside from the cash that I will arrange to get to her, I will also be organising some food hampers, necessities and a few luxuries for them for Christmas. My goal is to try to collectively raise enough money to find them adequate transport to be able to get them too and from the hospital. She confirmed today her car has been classified as a write off after the engine ceased. If anyone has any contacts at car dealerships, pls send them my way!
