Loma Leifi. We all know her as an athletic, smart, full of life young lady with a heart of gold! Her mother Rosalie would give her shirt off her back to help anyone she comes in contact with. If you know this family you love them, they become family. On February 15, 2019, they received the news of every parents worst nightmare . Loma was diagnosed with Pre T- Cell Acute Lymphoma Leukemia. It all started on February 8, 2019, Loma went in to see her doctor for a cough and difficulty breathing. It was then they were told there was fluid in her lungs and that she needed to be transferred to Kaiser in LA for the specialists to see here. That night she was admitted in the NICU and had a CAT scan that showed a tumor in her collapsed lung. The family was told it was cancerous. After going through several test, xrays and a tube inserted in to drain the 6 liters of fluid out of her lung the diagnosis of leukemia was reached. That same day she received her first round of agressive chemotherapy. The Leifi family was told that Loma will have to undergo aggressive chemotherapy for the next 7-9 months as she has a very aggressive form of leukemia. Total treatment for Loma will be 2 1/2 years. While the oncologist seems very optimistic and in his own words said he is here "not just to treat this but to cure it." He also said it will require one parent to quit their job to care for Loma. As we all know, this is going to be a long and hard fight, but with all of our help, prays and support for Loma and her family we can help alleviate the burden of some of the costs along the way. Please help allow this family the piece of mind to focus on Loma's recovery and not the costs for her treatment and care. We would like Loma to know she is not on the battle field alone but that she has thousands of troops fighting along side of her!
