Here is an update from Keith. Posted on Facebook 3.20.18:

Hello everyone. How have y’all been? I know, I know....it’s been awhile. That is totally my fault. This cancer thing is a full time job with plenty of overtime, but zero benefits. I guess I owe everyone a quick rundown. Well, here it is.....

The last time I posted, I talked about the chemo treatment. Since then, I had a couple “scares” because of the side effects from the chemo drugs. The biggest one was having to check myself into the ER, at MD Anderson, at the advice of my doctor. My red blood cell and hemoglobin count was critically low. Basically my Geouritinary doc had no clue how I was still upright as he called it. I’m assuming that I should have been in the ICU. Anyway, I had to receive countless blood transfusions just to bring my blood back to “low normal” since my body could not do it on its own. There were a bunch of other complications, including the blood thing, that prompted the docs to stop that chemo. What now you ask? I am still recovering from the final effects of that mess. Most likely, starting early next week, I will start another form of chemo that I had done early last year that has its own gruesome effects. Also, I will be on a separate medication that also sucks. So, in a nutshell, things are about to be as crappy as they were with the other stuff. And, just when you thought I was done. The tumors have pretty much destroyed the majority of the discs on my spine along with my pelvis, parts of both femurs, a few ribs, and my hip cups. We will discuss that at a later date.

Now, more bittersweet, yet exciting news (depending on the way you look at it). I have attached a picture of what is to become our new house in Katy, Tx. If you remember, Bridget and I made the extremely tough decision late last year to move closer to MD Anderson. The traveling back and forth has cost us a small fortune which we do not have to begin with. Also, I cannot stand being away from Bridget and the kids for two or almost three weeks and only coming home for a few days and then back again. Like I said, tough decision to sell her grandparent’s house that we have renovated with blood, sweat, and lots of stuff from Home Depot over the years and where all the kids grew up. But sometimes sacrifices have to be made and I cannot express how grateful I am to have a loving, caring wife to not even blink an eye when the question arose regarding moving. Anyway, this post is way too long, so here is the house as it stood a couple weeks ago. Since then a bunch of stuff has been done to it. They are building quickly. Hopefully, they will be done at the end of May/early June. I will update pics, if y’all would like, when I go back Thursday to start another 7-8 days worth of appointments.

Take care everyone. Thank you for listening.

Keith

Here is his latest Facebook update as of 8/20/2017:

Good morning family and friends. I'm am a few days late on the update (hey, that rhymes). Anyway, away we go....

I'm not going to fill up this space with the gory details of the specifics of EXACTLY what is going on. I do not want to bore you. I will say that some new issues have reared their ugly heads. Some far more painful than I could have imagined. Quick synopsis...imagine, be woken up from a dead sleep by something that resembles an overcharged electric current being shot through your back and leg. The problem is that when you are awakened, you are in so much pain, you can't move, but you have to try and get up to hopefully relieve some of the stiffness and pain. That is just a small glimpse into a cancer patients life. Of course I could go on and on about this tumor and that tumor and tell you how many I now have and where they are, but not today.
I want to quickly mention something else....change. We ALL go through it in one way or another. Some good some bad, some big some small, some detrimental to our lives some not. My point is that my family is faced with change day in and day out because of this damn cancer. We will need to figure out several things that will cause major changes in the balance of my family.

Like a broken record, Bridget and I, along with my three amazingly strong willed children, continue to fight every single day. Remember this, if you take anything away from this "update", change is inevitable whether we like it or not.

Thank you all for listening. I will be back in Houston on Tuesday (I just came home for the weekend). I will update again soon once I have a better understanding of this "new" issue.

Happy Sunday Funday!!!
