Supporting Steve’s Fight Against Cancer

As many of you know, my dad’s health journey took a challenging turn last year. On August 25, 2024, he suffered a mild heart attack. While hospitalized, doctors discovered that his PSA (prostate-specific antigen) levels were alarmingly high.

After further testing, including an iliac biopsy on August 27, he was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer on September 9. This was devastating news for our family. His oncologist acted quickly, starting him on medication to lower his PSA, which had been dangerously high at 610 during his hospital stay. By his next labs on September 16, it had dropped to 555.44.

On September 27, his first PET scan revealed cancer metastasis in his spine. Treatment began immediately—chemo started on October 3, with a plan for six rounds every three weeks, paired with 10 rounds of radiation therapy.

By his second PET scan on December 23, there was some progress. The scan suggested scar tissue in the areas targeted by radiation, a small but hopeful step forward. His last chemo infusion was on January 16, and the results were incredible: his PSA dropped to 0.09! To consolidate his progress, his radiation oncologists recommended 10 more rounds of radiation, which began on January 29.

Unfortunately, the fight has not been without setbacks. On February 3, at 2:45 AM, my mom called to say she was rushing my dad to the ER. He was severely weak, running a 102.9 fever, unable to stand, and vomiting. He was diagnosed with Influenza Type A, a frightening complication given his compromised immune system. Thankfully, the hospital staff acted quickly, reducing his fever and keeping him under close observation for several days.

Through all of this, my dad has been incredibly strong, but he hasn’t been able to return to work since his diagnosis and likely won’t until July. Up until now, my parents have been managing, but the financial burden is becoming overwhelming. Between medical expenses and lost income, the weight is heavy.

I’m starting this fundraiser to help relieve some of that pressure so my dad can focus fully on healing. If you’re able, please consider donating—any amount helps and is deeply appreciated. If you can’t donate, sharing his story and keeping him in your prayers means the world to us.

Thank you for standing by my dad and our family during this incredibly difficult time.
