Steven’s Road to Recovery

On the morning of New Year’s Eve, while visiting Carlsbad, New Mexico with me and our 18-month-old son, my husband, Steven Shriver, suffered a stroke.

Thankfully, Steven recognized the warning signs, and we were able to get him to the emergency room in time to be life-flighted to the nearest hospital in El Paso. He underwent emergency brain surgery to stop the bleeding, and we are incredibly grateful that the surgery was successful. As expected, he is now experiencing some neurological deficits and will require ongoing care, rehabilitation, and physical therapy as he begins his recovery.

We are currently working to transfer Steven back home to Houston in the coming days. Unfortunately, the hospital and level of care best suited for his recovery are out of network for our insurance, and the associated medical and rehabilitation costs are significant.

Steven is young, a devoted husband, and a new father with a long road of healing ahead of him. Any support helps ease the financial burden during this unexpected and overwhelming time and allows us to focus on his recovery and our family. We are deeply grateful for your kindness, prayers, and support.
