Helping Hampers - Community Co-Op Northern Beaches

The Community Co-Op Northern Beaches is an amazing group of volunteers from different age groups and backgrounds, come together like one big family to help feed vulnerable and disadvantaged communities of the Northern Beaches, especially during recent COVID lockdowns. Overall they contribute to more than 1,800 meals per week through fresh fruit & veggie hampers, hot meals, frozen meals and pantry staple care packs. Our community needs their generous, life-changing support and acts of kindness to continue - so we're calling on your generosity and financial support to ensure their meal service and hamper delivery wheels keep turning in 2021!
Your donation - no matter how big or small - will have a direct positive impact on supporting those most in need in our community.
The Co-Op clients are people struggling with mental and/or physical disabilities; social isolation and/or mobility issues; families afflicting by domestic violence; women’s shelters; foster and respite care families; veterans doing it tough; support for social housing tenants; and more recently assistance for families struggling with loss of work/income due to Covid.
Each need is unique. Each story heartbreaking. This wonderful community group has reached out, helped and supported, giving hope, stability and dignity to individuals worrying about where their next meal will come from, and whether they, or their children, will have to go without.
This GoFundMe page has been created to raise funds to increase the Co-Ops capacity to distribute more fresh foods, and expand the meal preparation and delivery service. Referrals from social services are increasing. The Co-Op needs help to meet this growing social service crisis, ongoing economic struggles, and sadly, an increase in crisis support for families fleeing domestic violence.

From humble beginnings in March 2020, the Co-Op has climbed many mountains with the generous support of the community through our #showusyourcans food drive, as well as with support from Harris Farm with fresh fruit and veg donations. The Co-Op is also now also fully backed by One Meal - It Makes A Difference Inc - who generously provide governance support, tools and infrastructure support enabling the Co-Op to focus locally in the our community.
