My name is Faiqa Tehseen, and I come from a small town in Pakistan where dreams like mine often end too soon. But with determination, sacrifice, and hope, I’ve held on to one — to become a researcher and earn my PhD. I have therefore setup this GoFundMe campaign to help me achieve these dreams and help with the tuition and Visa fees required to persue this PhD in the UK.

My parents have given everything they could to keep my education alive. My father, despite his own struggles, never let me feel the weight of our hardships and worked tirelessly to make sure I could stay in school. My mother, with tears in her eyes, gave up her most precious belongings so that I could continue my studies — she always said she wanted to see me achieve what she never had the chance to. Every step I take today is built on their sacrifices, love, and prayers. Their belief in me has carried me this far, and I now hold an MPhil in Botany.

I have now been accepted for a PhD in Biological Sciences at the University of Portsmouth, where I will research marine bacteria that can help clean pollution — a project that means so much for science and the environment.

But right now, I am short by around £1500 to cover my initial tuition deposit and other mandatory costs to start this PhD. Alongside this, I am also paying visa fees, NHS health surcharge, and other expenses myself.

This is the only hurdle left between me and the opportunity I have worked for my entire life. Every little contribution will directly support my tuition deposit so I can register, secure my visa, and begin my PhD journey.
