Education

I know this young man personally. His name is Manuelle, and is very shy which is why we've had to snap the photo without him noticing! He is one of a group of about 10 Hill Tribe children in Thailand who have been supported for a number of years by a gentleman who had set up a trust for this purpose.  The trust is now empty and the man who runs it is ill.....so the children's continuing education is unlikely.

Some of his 'brothers' (although unrelated by birth they consider themselves family) are younger and therefore being home schooled for the moment.

Manuelle is half way through his exams......working in the British system,in his third language.......which is extraordinairy in itself and with only one year to go.

The small International school in Thailand relies on student fees to survive and is staffed by hugely talented (but not hugely paid) teachers.  After looking for alternatives and waiting for tuition fees for some time, the school as been forced to make a painful but necessary decision.

The school released the following statement after I requested details to post on Facebook. One of my Facebook friends, suggested GoFundMe in response.

"All the funding for the 2 older Hill Tribe children  has come to an unexpected and abrupt end.   Manuelle is only half way through his IGCSEs and the most talented young footballer we have ever seen by a long long way.  The school came to the decision that he would need to be removed from the register  if his deposit cannot be paid. 4 staff members have already clubbed together to pay this (a unique situation in itself), but his coming school fee for his final year of school of just over 4000 UK pounds (233,000 Thai Baht) is still needed.
After this year he will have completed his IGCSE's (academically he is also strong) and be ready to move on to follow his footballing ambitions.
Our immediate concern is being able to fund his final year at school."

I am a parent of students at the school and the part owner (with Thai partnership) of a small Thai registered company.   We will make a donation of course but are not big enough to fund the whole of Manuelle's school fees.

As you will see from the postcode, we are collecting through a UK account of one of our close asociates in order to make foreign as well as Thai donations easier.

We would are very aware that the world is very full of people in need and it is a matter of personal choice for everyone reading this, whether to make a small....or large (!) donation....or simply to wish Manuelle and his brothers well.

We are not fans of organisations or individuals who try and emotionally blackmail the public for donations........so have tried to make this as factual and non emotive as possible.

We would ask you to share this post with your own contacts if you wish
We would also appreciate any advice and support about helping him in his footballing ambitions.......after he completes school.
