Let me introduce you to Emilie. This extremely courageous, proud and wonderful human has gone through so much in her 36 years after loosing her son at just 12 weeks old after he died in his sleep she thought she’d had her share.
But on 7 November 2024 she was sick after breakfast. She didn’t think much of it — perhaps the milk had been off. She carried on with her day, as she always did, working 12 hour days in medicine (ironically) For weeks, she found herself unable to keep any meal down.
After Christmas she was admitted to hospital. Finally the awful news came on 11 February 2025 that her stomach has stopped working. Anything that she ate was staying in the stomach, not moving on to her bowels to absorb nutrients and eventually would be thrown up. She very quickly went from a healthy 8.5 stone to just over 4 stone. She has sadly re rejected all attempts to refeed her through various tubes feeding tubes. Finally a doctor who listened, gave her days to live and immediately put her into emergency surgery to do a jejunostomy whilst this has helped her go from 4 stone to 5 stone she is critically underweight and her body is giving up her weight simply won’t increase beyond this. She has three children who need their mum.
She has now been admitted to residential hospital care in London full time away from her family. With a Hickman and picc line feeding her through her main arterial which won’t save her life but will prolong it to 5 years max.
She can come home with a private nurse meaning she gets to be with her family, most importantly her young children as they struggle through their GCSEs because their mother is starving to death.
Her life expectancy is going to be considerably shorter if she cant have this done so this is her last hope to be able to be around as long as possible for her gorgeous children.
Her and her husband have taken the heart breaking sent their youngest children to boarding school as they don’t want them to be around at home alone whilst she’s in hospital and hubby is at work. But this breaks her heart as she wants to be able to spend as much time with her children as possible. Emilie coming home will mean that they can also come home.
Her husband is having to work as much as he can as a golf teacher and pay the bills/mortgage and to give the children as much of a normal life as they can whilst all of this is going on.
Funding a private nurse will get her out of hospital with her children.
It may seem like a high target, but we have to try to be able to support her and her beautiful family, I am starting this crowd funding page to raise as much money as we can and get her the nursing she can have at home to be around her family.
Anything that you can give will be so gratefully received, please share this as much as you possibly can so we can give Emilie and her family the best final year(s) of her already too short life and prepare her children for a life without mum.
