Cut for the Curve
Donation protected
Since November 2017, I was diagnosed with scoliosis. I was given a back brace which caused a lot of pain, however it was used in the hope of holding my curve in place while I grew. I felt lost, scared, nervous and so alone. Over the catharsis, I remembered being handed a flyer by the woman at the front desk the day of my first Scoliosis appointment. It was for a group called Curvy Gils Scoliosis Foundation, and the group was made of girls from all over the world dealing with the same things as I was. I was so relived that I was not alone, and now it's been over a year and to this day, I thank Curvy Girls for getting me though my toughest times. Now, I am getting surgery for my back at the end of December, and I am seeing this as an opportunity to give back. I would like to fundraise $1124 for Curvy Girls by June 30. It's ambitious I know, but with your help, this can be achieved. June is international Scoliosis Awareness Month, and all throughout June I will be encouraging as may people as possible to check for scoliosis and simply spread awareness of the impact it can have on lives. "Why $1124? that's very specific," you may be thinking, well let me tell you this; The 24th of November 2017, this date impacted me significantly, so it makes sense so have it as my desired goal. 11.24.
By supporting Curvy Girls Foundation, you are assisting in allowing the Convention to happen, where Curvy Girls from all over the world gather to celebrate their spines, and have a fun time all together in America. Remember, Curvy Girls is a self funded business, and donations are very appreciated no matter what size.
On top of fundraising for the most amazing support group anyone could wish for, I will also be cutting my hair. Yes, cutting it. If you know me, you'll know that my hair is very long, to my knees in fact, and it's time to let go. I will cut it above my shoulders and dye it pink, the colour of Curvy Girls. I'm seeing it as a way of letting go and my hair will no longer hide my spines curve.
Please, help raise awareness and show support of people like me. No mater how big or small the donation, it is appreciated.
