As I am sure by now most people have heard, we suffered a tragedy in the military basketball community yesterday. A team from our conference, Ft Bliss had a car accident on their way back to El Paso where the right rear tire blew out causing the vehicle to roll over. The conference has been in close contact with head coach Ajaie Albert getting as many updates as possible. Two Ft Bliss players, Cliff Lyonell Tucker and Andrew C Akaji passed away at the scene as well as Andrew's wife Amanda. Their baby is in NICU. Cliff's wife sustained multiple injuries and broken bones and is in ICU as well. Joseph Kennerly III also suffered injuries to his neck and spine and is scheduled for surgery later on today. Another player, Marcus JohnWall Lovelace suffered a dislocated shoulder as well. Please keep the Ft Bliss Black knight basketball team and their families in your prayers and provide any support u can during this troubled time. Anyone that has played military basketball has been in the exact situation that they were, traveling on the road to and from games, it could have been anyone of us. The military basketball is a tight knit community. Many of us knew these players personally and our hearts and prayers go out to you and the families involved during this tragic time. Any additional information we receive will be put out when we receive it. We morn the loss of our brothers and will not forget them. Please stay safe, life is fragile.
