Dear friends and family,

The Cusicanqui Family has lost a piece of their heart, Maria Mercado Cusicanqui.  It's been a long fight but cancer got the best of her as it does with most.

She was strong, funny and the most loving mom anyone can have. She was your best friend, she was my fathers loving wife, my grandparents caring daughter, supportive mother, fun sister and favorite aunt.  She was clever, clumsy, & hard working.

Two years ago our mom was diagnosed with metastaic breast cancer. She then seeked treatment and went in for a double masectomy followed up with one year of chemo. Unfortunately, we received news that the cancer had spread to her lungs. She continued her chemo therapy. It took its toll on her both physically and mentally. We then decided to go with a more holistic approach.

After 8 months on a clean strict diet and being active, yoga, excercise, pilates, etc. once again we were dealt with sad news that she had lost her cordination and was admitted into ER. She was then diagnosed with cancer moving to the brain.  Three weeks later she experienced her first seizure.  Then three weeks after that our mom went for stereotactic gammaknife brain surgery.

Three weeks after surgery, she started a very costly alternative medicine to help control her cancer without receiving all the side effects that chemo was giving her.
Unfortunately, she experienced another seizure. Each seizure slowly debilatating her of strength and energy.

Five weeks after she expeirenced another seizure which caused the doctors to recommend brain surgery to remove a congesitive lesion.  After the brain surgery, she was recovering strongly for 5 days with an update to get released the following day due to showing signs of stability and strength.

Later that 5th day, she lost all strength and speech with a minutes time. Her whole body went into a shock and she had to stay in the hospital for an additional week.
The following Friday, we were able to take her home.

After one week of caring for her with the help of my father and brothers, it was a struggle but we managed. We watched her struggle with her appetite, body, and speech. She slowly progressed showing signs of her former self but at a very gradual rate . After a week, she was readmitted to the ER  due to increase heart rate & pulse.

This disease has tested our whole famliy but as mentioned before, cancer got the best of her or did it?  She may not be with us anymore in this world but there's no doubt she's watching us from a better place, an angel I'm sure.

Its with a heavy heart that we ask our friends and family for help. This disease has not only taking its toll emotionally but financially.  Any donation is greatly appreciated.  We ask for your support for her funeral arrangements and to assist us with this massive medical debt that cancer has left us with.  If not a donation, a message of support and prayers would be most grateful.

Sincerely,
Luis,  Danny,  Brian, and Kevin
