Curvy Jaidyn

Jaidyn is our 14-year-old daughter who is amazing. She lights up a room when she enters. She has the kindest heart and she’s funny. She’s an incredibly talented artist. Her current genre is anime. She embraces life and tries to always remain positive.

At the end of last year Jaidyn was diagnosed with scoliosis. We reached out to Shriners to see if they could help. If they could, they will cover most, if not all, of the cost of the surgery. I had a Zoom meeting with the surgeon, but she is booked out three to four months and she is in Pasadena, California. Since that initial contact, getting in touch with them has been difficult, and Jaidyn’s condition continues to worsen. We had our initial appointment with a pediatric surgeon and we shared with him that we were having conversations with Shriners, as we currently don’t have health insurance which he understood. We agreed though that until Shriners contacted us (to date they have not) then Jaidyn would remain his patient.

On January 6 of this year, we had a follow up with her Arizona Orthopedic physician. Jaidyn’s scoliosis has progressed by 6%, and now her curvature has reached the 80th percentile. Her doctor doesn’t want to wait until summer for surgery because he is now even more concerned with her heart and breathing. If we move forward with the surgery in Arizona, she is currently scheduled for late March of this year. It is a four-to-six-hour surgery and she will recover in pediatric ICU for 3 to 5 days. We met the PA during this visit and Jaidyn really likes her and is very comfortable with her.

We are still searching for decent health insurance. Along with Jaidyn’s condition and my husband being a Type-1 diabetic so it is very difficult finding something we can afford so we have decided to reach out in this way.
