This picture was taken of me on February 9, 2020, by Arlington County Police Department. On a Sunday afternoon after a morning workout, I made my way to Arlington National Cemetery. As a veteran and former presidential escort stationed at this base, I hoped to pay my respects to former colleagues who were laid to rest here. Shortly after my arrival in the parking lot, an officer from Fort Myer left his post and jurisdiction, relying only on his prejudice and bias that I was suspicious, and he blocked my car with his cruiser while he proceeded to call local ACPD.

I was handcuffed, interrogated for hours by several officers, and my personal belongings from my vehicle were taken out of my car and laid on the ground, just before the ACPD took them without authority or permission. After the public shame and scrutiny, police seized my property and cited me for expired tags. On February 9, 2020, I was sent away and not arrested.

Then, 9 days later, I was arrested and put in solitary, locked in a cell for 22 hours a day held without bond on a false, first-time, non-violent charge.

I was held for just shy of 7 months during the early days of COVID. Finally, a judge granted a motion to suppress the evidence against me, and over a year later, all charges, including subsequent false charges, were dropped.

While I ultimately won in the criminal court, albeit a slow and costly process, justice and accountability are necessary to right this wrong.

Almost 7 months of my life were stolen from me by the ACPD's bogus charges - and I want to claw whatever I can of that back. I am bringing a civil rights case in the Eastern District of Virginia against the officers who ruined my life, and I need all the help I can get to pay for the litigation expenses.

All donations will first be put toward paying the litigation expenses, which will likely go over the $45,000.00 goal, and anything raised beyond the litigation expenses will help to get my life sorted out.

When I was falsely imprisoned, rent went unpaid, my utilities fell behind, my car was impounded and crushed, my credit was destroyed, and personal and business relationships took a turn for the worst. I have been working hard to get my life back in order, and I need your help to do it.

My lawyers have estimated that litigation costs would be, at least:

$1,200+ for initial service fees
$5,000+ for transcription costs
$15,000 to $20,000+ for initial expert witness costs

$2,000+ for service of subpoenas and later investigation costs
$20,000+ for expert witnesses depositions and preparation for trial
$5,000+ for copying, exhibits, and other preparation for trial

I ask you to read the facts about my civil rights case on your own. I have already suffered defamatory lies against me in the media shortly after I was arrested, but hopefully, the history of this case will bend towards justice and serve as a reminder that police misconduct can hurt anyone.
