Curtis & Jade Take on Snowdon
Donation protected
At the beginning of this year, Curtis and I were expecting a baby. Sadly, in April, we were told that we lost our baby at 17 weeks. After a long, emotional 48 hours in hospital we were able to say hello and goodbye to our baby boy.
This has been an unimaginable and heartbreaking time, but the support we received from the midwifery and bereavement team at Torbay Hospital was nothing short of incredible. In particular, the Berevement Team and Meadow Suite — a dedicated room just off the delivery ward for parents have to deliver whilst facing loss — became a place of comfort, however small, during the most painful moment of our lives.
The Meadow Suite, supported by the amazing bereavement midwives Anna and Faye, is made as homely as possible to give families the tiniest bit of peace. But, like many parts of the NHS, they face challenges getting funding for even the simplest of things.
So this year, Curtis and I have decided to raise money for the department by climbing Snowdon.
We are hoping to climb Snowdon on 30th September when our baby boy would have been due.
People who know me will understand this is not something I would usually do — this will push us to our limits, but after already being pushed so far, this feels achievable and meaningful.
We want to give back and help make the Meadow Suite as comforting as possible for other families who, heartbreakingly, will walk a similar path. If you’re able to support us in any way — big or small — to help provide furniture, supplies, and other comforts to the team, it would mean the world to us.
Thank you ♥️
