Hi, my name is Curtis and I'm 73 years old. I'm on social security and I work 3 days a week. I call it semi-retired because I can't fully retire because I have too many bills. For the past 23 years since we've been in Colorado, I've worked for minimum wage or just a little over because of my job title and hours weekly, which is about 29 hours or sometimes extra.
My wife is also retired on social security and a small pension. We've been together for 36 years and never had to ask our kids or friends for anything. We managed to get by cutting back. Okay, here is the reason I need your help!! First of all, I'm not that good with computers or social media, so I don't know how to reach out to everyone. I'm not on Facebook or anything like that. If it wasn't for my wife, I wouldn't be asking for help!! I feel bad that I have to ask her for help paying the bills, but she's always willing to.
On March 1st, that's when everything really went downhill. As if things weren't already bad, I was going to pay our rent when I decided to roller skate to the rental office. My wife was in Florida helping her friend move. She told me not to get on those skates until I got safety gear, but I didn't, and I ended up breaking my foot. So, I've been out of work since with no benefits but FMLA for 12 weeks. It's been hard, but I hate to say I have 13 open credit card accounts I have to pay every month, and they are almost maxed out, including rent, food, car payment, and new medical bills. My health is not as good as it could be, but here she comes again, wanting to do more.
I know it's a lot to ask for, but I want to pay everything off or at least half instead of filing bankruptcy. I feel some kind of way because I made these bills and I should pay!! I've never had anything easygoing, and I don't expect to start now. I just need help!!!
