Curtains High velocity disk herniation

Tax deductible
Foster Curtains arrived from Ireland on 10/19/23 at Logan Airport. All was routine as when we pick up our new foster greyhounds who are looking for new homes. This past Saturday I took Foster Curtains for a ride to one of GPA MA's volunteers homes to introduce her to their cat. Everything went well and was completely uneventful. Foster Curtains and I headed home and her new adopters were coming to meet her the following day. When I arrived home and opened the hatch of my SUV, Foster Curtains could not stand on her back legs. I assumed she sat weird and her leg fell asleep. When I lifted her out of the car and placed her on the ground her back legs were still paralyzed. We quickly got back in the car and rushed to CCVS in Bourne where she was admitted quickly. The good news was that Curtains still was getting pain response in her toes. The vet let us know this was time sensitive and she needed an MRI and potentially surgery right away, however CCVS does not have an MRI or a Neurologist. Foster Curtains and I were transferred to VCA Weymouth. Once we arrived Foster Curtains was again quickly admitted and seen by the vet. They were able to give her pain meds and get her comfortable. The Neurologist was not scheduled to be in until Sunday morning. Sunday arrived and Curtains MRI was preformed and the Neurologist determined she had a high velocity herroniated disk and needed emergency surgery right away. Foster Curtains had a blood clot on her spinal cord which was causing the paralysis. The Neurologist was able to successfully remove it, which has now given Foster Curtains an 80% chance of walking on her own again in 6 weeks with rehab and physical therapy. She has a long expensive road ahead of her and we will absolutely do everything we can for her. This GoFundMe is just to cover the cost of hospitalization and her surgery. It should be added that the Neurologist said this could have been caused by anything so we are not trying to assume what that was. Please consider donating to help this sweet Irish girl so we can get her healthy and adopted.
