Hurricane Melissa, a powerful Category 5 storm, has devastated parts of Jamaica, especially in the western parishes of St. Elizabeth, Trelawny, St. James, Manchester, and Clarendon. In response, a united group of current and former Ardenne High School cadets is stepping forward to help those hardest hit.
I am Major (Retired) Ricardo Blackwood, a former cadet and member of the Jamaica Defence Force. My colleagues and I, all former cadets of the Ardenne High School Cadet Unit, are raising funds to urgently deliver relief care packages to families affected by the storm, with a special focus on supporting current cadets and their loved ones.
Each care bag costs between $40 and $50 USD and includes :
- Food and clean drinking water
- Hygiene items and sanitary supplies
- Baby care essentials
- Logistics support to deliver to remote areas
- Meals for the cadet volunteers, who are packing and distributing the items
Every package contains practical, high-need items, tailored for adults, women, and children. Two versions are prepared:
All funds go directly towards supplies, logistics, and volunteer support with full transparency, and funds will be channelled directly through the Ardenne Alumni Association to ensure transparency.
“From Cadets to Cadets: Lifting Jamaica One Care Bag at a Time.”
Your donation provides real help, quickly and demonstrates that the cadet spirit of service is alive and well.
