My name is Claudia Lin and I am 13 years old.
In 2013, I found my mom was diagnosed with a rare disease called Systemic Scleroderma. Scleroderma is the hardening and tightening of skin with connective tissues.
However, the particular form of scleroderma my mom was diagnosed with hardens the internal organs as well such as the heart and lungs.
I had to watch my mom go through many painful procedures and it was one of the hardest moments of my life and luckily, an investigational medication came to her rescue and had stopped the disease from progressing much further.
These past experiences opened my eyes to the countless number of Scleroderma patients that were not as lucky as my mother and are still suffering from this deadly disease.
