Revitalizing & Repairing Our Historical Church

This year marks our 100 year anniversary as a church! Community United Methodist Church of Jackson Heights continues to live out its identity as a church that is one with the community. Holding services in various languages each week, Community UMC has evolved to represent the people who currently reside in Jackson Heights. But it is more than a church. It also houses 82nd Street Academics, which provides early childhood education to over 500 enrolled students. The church sponsors scouting groups, provides language and citizenship classes, serves food to those in need, and offers a wide range of community oriented programs on a week to week basis. While the church and its many forms of outreach to the community continue to thrive, the beautiful historically land marked building is showing its age. The roof is leaking, the outside stairs cracked, the banisters leaning, and the lovely brickwork around the building damaged. While the church tries desperately to pay for the necessary work, it is simply beyond our capability. Through your help, the church wants to revitalize and repair the building so that it can remain a part of Jackson Heights for the next 100 years.
