Culturally Diverse Books for Upper Perk

Donation protected
Hi All,

We are overwhelmed by the people who came out to support our community members of color yesterday at the Upper Perkiomen United For Peace protest! WE ARE PROUD.

Many of you have been asking what you can do next. We want to make an impactful change on our community. Protesting is a great way to show our solidarity but we NEED to do more.

Jackson and I created a public Facebook group called “Upper Perkiomen United For Peace.” Here we will be posting information and resources on what you can do to help the cause for racial equity!

Community members of color have been suggesting ideas for ways to make the town more inclusive (we are open to all suggestions and ideas, PLEASE REACH OUT). One of our favorite ideas was making sure our libraries have books that represent racial diversity and different cultures.

Jackson and I have created a gofundme page to raise money to donate age appropriate books on race, diversity, and culture to daycares and schools in Upper Perk. If you are interested in receiving a donation and have not been contacted yet, please reach out!

We had about 600 community members attend and express interest in the protest and can reach our goal if each person donates only $5! However, no donation is too big or too small.

The first $3,000-$3,100 will go towards book in the community, the next $100 will go towards printing and mailing materials for community "love" letters to counteract the Nazi propaganda our town received in 2017, $800 will go towards a community mural at 349 Main Street, Pennsburg. Any remaining funds will go back towards community projects!
