Cardiff women's football are committing to running 500km in the month of February, all to raise funds and awareness for an incredibly important LGBTQ+ charity. Everyone within the club will run as much as they can throughout February, aiming to collectively make it to 500km. This cause means so much to the club as it should to all sports in general—because it’s about creating spaces where everyone, no matter their identity, feels supported, accepted, and celebrated. Football is a sport growing in inclusion and has been a source of outlet for many of us, and we wish to raise money for an amazing charity that supports and advocates for this inclusion.
LGBTQ+ persons can face significant challenges, from discrimination, especially in sport, to being at a higher likelihood of struggling with their mental health. Football, and other sports, can provide community and support, and CULF strives to always be an inclusive space for the LGBTQ+ community. Stonewall uses money raised from fundraisers and merchandise sales, such as rainbow captains' armbands, to fund vital work which encourages equality and support for LGBT people in and out of sport. As a team, we believe in using our passion for football and fitness to make a positive impact beyond the field. By running 500km together, we’re showing our commitment to standing up for the rights and well-being of the LGBTQ+ community.
We need your support to make this challenge a success. Your donations will go directly to the charity, funding their vital programs and services that support LGBTQ+ community. Every donation, big or small, helps us move one step closer to reaching our goal, both in kilometre's and in fundraising. We’re excited to take on this challenge together, and we would be beyond grateful for your support in making it all count for a great cause.
Your support would be highly appreciated by us, and to the countless people whose lives will be positively impacted by this charity!
Love from CULF xx
