Not long ago, when a mother gave birth to a stillborn baby or a baby who passed away after birth, the baby was taken almost immediately without giving the families any time with them. When we were in the hospital with our sweet Abigail Grace, we were so blessed to be able to have extra time with her after she passed away. We were able to do this with the help of a wonderful cooling bassinet called the Cuddle Cot. This bassinet allows families to spend precious time with their baby even after they are no longer living. While we were able to spend time with Abby, we noticed there was another family down the hall with the bow on their door (which meant their baby had passed away as well). I felt so sad that they may not have been able to get the time they needed because there was only one available Cuddle Cot at our hospital. This was also one of my fears going into labor, that another family may already be using the cot.
We decided that we wanted to raise funds for another Cuddle Cot for our hospital (Medical City Dallas) and possibly another local hospital that may not have one available in Abby’s honor. When you lose your baby, your only memories with them are from your time at the hospital. We want every family to have access to this precious time.
If you’d like more information on the Cuddle Cot you can find it here from an organization who also donates them to hospitals:
