Cuddle Cot In memory of Michaela Jane Axtell
Donation protected
I was beyond excited when my son Donald and his wife Stephanie announced that after over two years of trying they were finally pregnant and when we found out it was a little girl we cried tears of joy.
She was going to be so loved and adored and would have a proud protective big brother.
That excitement turned to shock and grief last week.
Last Tuesday October 12th they received the news their precious baby girl Michaela had passed. On Thursday the 14th Stephanie delivered her Angel at 25 weeks.
How do you let go of something so quickly when you’ve just in a short amount of time fell in love.
To help parents and families have a little more time with their sweet angels some hospitals have what they call a Cuddle Cot.
The hospital where Michaela was born had recently had a Cuddle Cot donated to them. Sadly another family who also were devastated by the loss their precious baby was using it.
What is a Cuddle Cot?
A Cuddle Cot is an in-room cooling unit the size of a small humidifier that is disguised inside a bassinet or a Moses basket.
Because babies are so little the natural changes that occur in death are more apparent. The Cuddle Cot helps preserve the body to allow parents more time with their precious baby.
I’ve had a lot of messages asking how to send flowers or donate to a cause in Michaelas name.
We have decided to setup a Gofundme account to purchase and donate another Cuddle Cot to the hospital where Michaela was born in her name.
