CuddleCot in memory of Sydney Amelia Emerson

Sydney Amelia Emerson was born into her heavenly home on March 3, 2022. She was born on March 3, 2022 in Danville, Virginia to Robby and Haley Emerson.

From the moment I found out that Sydney was no longer with us, I threw myself into research on stillbirth, child loss, memorial keepsakes, ways to best support my brother and sister-in-law - anything to help ease the agonizing pain that Robby and Haley are dealing with.

While I’m absolutely certain that nothing could take away the pain of losing your child, I did come across something that could help others going through the initial shock that comes with delivering their stillborn child. Something called a CuddleCot.

Unfortunately, in Robby and Haley’s situation, our local hospital was not equipped with this device.

What is a CuddleCot?

The CuddleCot is an in-room bassinet that cools to an ideal temperature for preserving baby without being too cold for the parents. In use in thousands of hospitals across the world, the CuddleCot allows the family to spend precious time with their baby, precious moments where every minute counts.

While more than anything, we wish that Sydney was still here with us - the next best thing would have been more time. Time for snuggles, pictures, family and friends to visit - because that time is all they will ever have to spend with her.

Current data shows that 1 in 160 pregnancies will result in stillbirth. This is tragic and we want to do something to help.

We have decided that no family that finds themselves in the same tragic position as Robby and Haley, should be forced to sacrifice that precious gift of time.

The CuddleCot system is not standard hospital equipment and costs an average of $3,000.

All funds donated will be used to purchase a CuddleCot to be donated to Sovah Health Danville in memory of Sydney.
