On November 22, 2019 at 40 and 1/2 weeks pregnant Danielle and I went to Kaiser San Francisco Hospital to deliver our son. Our hearts are broken to say that as we were being checked in and assessed there was no longer any heartbeat and we lost our son before ever meeting him. On November 23, 2019 at 6:16pm Jude Otlin was delivered and thanks to an incredible donation of a Cuddle Cot bassinet we were able to spend 5 and 1/2 days with Jude.
Without a special cooling device parents of passed babies are only able to have a few hours with their children, Danielle and I are grateful and forever indebted to the thoughtful, generous, and caring parents that donated a Cuddle Cot to Kaiser. The couple that made the donation lost their daughter the year before and only had a few hours with her. They decided no one else should only have that small window of time and started raising money to help others.
Danielle and I are inspired and want nothing more than to help as many other parents have as long as possible with their children. We know that many of our friends and family want to help us as we are mourning. We think donating and helping others in Jude's name is the best way to help us as we move through our grief and try to heal.
If we can raise enough to purchase a Cuddle Cot, we will donate it to a local hospital that does not already have one.
Thank you with all our hearts,
Mike and Danielle Otlin
update: all money raised through this gofundme will be spent by Danielle and I directly for the purchase of Cuddle Cots (including a plaque to honor Jude, and either a kit of replacements parts or an additional year warranty. the purchase of a Cuddle Cot includes a 1 year warranty). We are already in communication with the Cuddle Cot parent company, Rexmort based out of the UK.
