On March 27th, 2018, our son, Marley James Hoy, was stillborn. Our world came crashing down when we learned that we lost our first baby. But what we didn’t know, was how many lives would be changed and saved, and how many big things Marley would put into this world, despite him not being here physically.
Because of Marley and experiencing birth for the first time, I started a support group with local moms who had experienced a pregnancy loss, and another group called Speak Your Truth at Hatch here in NYC. I became a certified childbirth educator, specializing in families who have experienced a loss. I then went on to get a certification in Grief & Loss Counseling. None of this would have been possible without Marley. And now, he’s put something even bigger in my path…
The purpose of this Go Fund Me is to donate a CuddleCot in honor of Marley to the hospital in which he was stillborn, Metropolitan Hospital in NYC. I was introduced to the CuddleCot during my grief research, and immediately knew that I had to find a way to donate one to the hospital which he was born. The CuddleCot looks like a bassinet, and cools to an ideal temperature for preserving baby without being too cold for the parents. Time allows the family to form an important bond with their baby and helps them in dealing with their loss. Families would be able to spend as much time as they want with their baby, rather than only having a few hours.
While I’m proud of what I was able to do to help others, this donation will help families on a whole new level. With this donation, we can give grieving families the gift of time to bond with their baby with the CuddleCot. I hope you feel compelled to donate so that we can make this a reality. Please feel free to share with others as well.
