My name is Carly and I am writing on behalf of my little sister Kristi Slack.
On September 22nd, our beloved Kristi underwent a routine gallbladder removal surgery without complication. Later that night for reasons unknown, her heart stopped for 27 minutes. She was revived, but her heart stopped again later that day. After being transported via helicopter to a hospital with cardiac specialists, spending 9 days in the ICU (and even longer hospitalized), three types of central lines, 8 different IV drips sustaining her life, and having to start dialysis for failing kidneys, Kristi has a long road of recovery ahead. She is still currently admitted in the ICU with hopes of going to a step-down unit soon. She has shown a lot of improvement over the last few days. She has been removed from the mechanical ventilator and is breathing on her own now. She is finally taking her first steps. She continues to have dialysis to support her kidneys and still requires cardiac catheterization when she stabilizes to determine why her heart stopped.
Anyone that knows Kristi knows that she is just the most loving, compassionate, good-spirited person. Between being unable to work while hospitalized and the medical expenses that are racking up, any amount contributed helps. Thank you all for your continued prayers and support. It means more than you will ever know.
